A TEESSIDE-based business has helped to create 16 new businesses and 25 new jobs in its first year of trading.

Business Angel NE Limited started trading as a local business support agency in 2009 and, since then, has expanded to include five members of staff while introducing a new creative design service.

In addition to the creation of new businesses and jobs, the team has also helped to increase turnover in existing organisations and created apprenticeship opportunities for young people.

Business Link adviser, Jonathan Armitage, has provided support for Business Angel NE Limited since its launch, including face-to-face advice on developing their business ideas, accounting, training, and local networking opportunities.

He was also instrumental in helping the business access funds from the North East England Investment Centre, which was used for branding and marketing the business.

Gemma Dawson, director of Business Angel NE Limited, said: “We have enjoyed a very successful first year of trading and sharing in the excitement of new entrepreneurs has been a pleasure. Our team has expanded to give us the expertise to offer the full package of creative services, web design, and support.”

Mr Armitage said: “I’m delighted to be able to offer support in developing a business that shares our passion in helping North East businesses to start, succeed and grow.

“I look forward to continuing our relationship with the Business Angel NE Limited team as they increase their service offering and seek to further develop the business.”
